This explains what the Sow Ahead planner keeps about you and why. Sow Ahead is responsible for your information (the "controller" under UK data protection law). We only keep what the planner needs.
What we keep
- Your account: your name and email address, so you can sign in and so we know which plans are yours.
- Your plans: the plot, beds, crops, jobs, notes and settings you enter (including the place name you give for your plot), and any photos you upload.
- Your plan with us: whether you are on a free trial or a paid plan, the dates, and the reference numbers Stripe gives us. We never see or store your card number.
- The waiting list: if you joined it, your email, the plot size you chose, whether you wanted to try the beta, and when you joined.
- On your device: a sign-in cookie, a copy of your plan so the planner works without a signal, and a few display choices such as your preferred units. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.
Why we use it
- To run the planner for you, take payment and manage your plan. This is needed to provide the service you signed up for.
- To keep the service secure and reply when you contact us. This is our legitimate interest in running a safe service.
- To keep payment and tax records, because the law requires it.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or use tracking or analytics tools on the planner.
Who else handles it
- Stripe takes your card payment and holds the payment records. Stripe has its own privacy notice.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores plans and photos for us.
- Resend sends sign-in emails, if the site uses emailed sign-in links.
- Open-Meteo provides the weather forecast. Your browser sends it the place name from your plot settings, and so it also sees your internet address, as with any website you visit. It is not sent your name or email.
- We only share information beyond this if the law requires it.
Some of these companies may handle information outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on safeguards the law accepts, such as approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
While your account is active, your plans and photos stay for as long as you use the planner. If you cancel, we keep your plans and photos for 3 years so you can come back and carry on where you left off. After that we delete them. You can also delete your plans and photos yourself at any time, in Settings under "Wipe my plans and data". That does not cancel your plan, and you can ask us to delete your account details too. Payment records are kept for as long as the law and tax rules require.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct, export or delete the information we hold about you, and to object to how we use it. Write to hello@sowahead.co.uk. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
